Tanzania STEMSHIP Foundation (TSF) is a fresh new way for children to learn Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics concepts in a fun, practical way whilst grooming both Leadership and Entrepreneurship skills. TSF’s major aim is:-
To advocate for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics literacy in Tanzania.
To empower STEM students into leadership and entrepreneurship activities.

At TSF we adopt the 4C's that cultivate learning and innovation skills : Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking & problem solving and Creativity & innovation.

Leadership Empowerment We at TSF believe that children have the potential to develop leadership skills if they are guided, trained and mentored appropriately.

At TSF we believe children ought to be trained to acquire entrepreneurial skills for them to be seasoned professionals of tomorrow.

Before bringing in a STEM program, collectively decide on a definition for STEM. I like to think of STEM as a verb and not just four nouns. It is the process of students doing, thinking and connecting throughout the entire curriculum. This is the subject of a future Blog… so be sure to subscribe! Please note that I stated “a building, district, and community definition of STEM”. Everyone should be able to provide a consensus definition. While this might seem obvious, it is not always the case!
All initiatives start out with a lot of energy. Many times this begins with particular groups and individuals. How do we place this ownership with the entire institution? There may need to be some ongoing in-service along with a retelling of the story. Keep in mind that the goal is to build a STEM culture!
